Another day done. And dang does BC have allot of trees

Was up early again this morning.  Had to be down for breakfast just after eight.  That is when the bed and breakfast we stayed at last night was serving.  Well she did two servings.  The first was at eight and the second was at eight fourty five.  We were down there in plenty of time but the table was already full.  So we wandered around Barkerville for a little while.  Took our luggage back to the car and then sat outside for awhile and waited for the second seating.

We had stayed at the St George burped and breakfast for the night.  Had a room on the second floor and it had its own bathroom.  That is a plus in itself.  A beautiful canopy bed, but have a bathroom made the room a little smaller to facilitate it.  She had a full house for the night.  So we were not the only silly people that decided to drive out to Barkerville to wander around for a while.  Our fourth or fifth time there and then stay for the night.  We can say at least that we stayed in Barkerville for the night. I had a dang good sleep until the heat got turned down. I was ice and cozy but someone said he couldn't breath because it was too hot. So I had to get cold for the night. Dang the other person.

A few funny things though in the morning.  There were trucks making deliveries and cars that belonged to staff were sitting out in plane view.  It use to be that everything was delivered in by horse and wagon,  now they come into modern times and have delivery by truck.  The trucks and cars had to be out of sight before they opened though.  But just to see them in there in the morning was kinda a sight.

When we came back in the gate after taking ourluggageto the car we where told that part of the areas had been closed down for the day.  There was a cougar in the area so people could not go past china town to look around.  There was a hall up the street a little further that you could walk to and see a show of some kind but that was blocked off today because of a very big pussy cat.  Well I don't think I would like to see this pussy cat anyways.

We had our breakfast.  Took a look at the gift shop, couldn't go back to the china town to look at something I was interested in buying, so just headed out the gate and on the road again.  Heading east out of the valley, then north to Prince George,  then headed east towards the Jasper national park.  The gas situation was getting a little touchy there for a bit.  He said I may have to get out and push.  I said what about him.  He says he is the driver so passenger gets to push.  Never heard of that rule before.

We got to McBride and yes a gas station.  You know we should have taken my bug it gets better gas mileage then his jeep.  But he would not have been comfortable is my little bug.  That would have also made it so I was driving.  Um!!  I don't think so with his complaining about my driving.  I will just sit in the passenger seat and keep me mouth shut.  Well that's what I do most of the time anyways.  Keep,e mouth shut and to complain about anything. Or I will bein dodo for something that came out of my mouth up expectantly.

Well northern BC.  Sure as heck are allot of trees and not much else.  Let's see did see some wildlife.  Well almost.  A cow or two as we past a farm then it was back into the trees again.  Not even much in the way of towns to stop the manotany.

But finally we came into the mountains.  There is mount Robson and terry fox mountain.  Through that national park and then onto Jasper national park.  Paid our dues to stay the night.  Found a nice little place to put our head down for the night.  Took a walk around the little bit of down town.  Looking for a place to eat.  Well there is this place,  how about here.  Someone was getting testy so he had to eat soon.  Finally decided and went in to eat.  Aw food.  Yeah I was getting a little testy as well with only eating some junk food this afternoon.

Ah speaking of junk food I found some more green shoestring licoric.  Oh boy the best junk food there is. Can only seem to find it around here.  But I love the stuff and buy it when ever I see it. The little kid in me I guess.

We now sit in our room.  I silence.  The TV not on and I am on my computer that he says I am addicted to and he is reading.  Such fun people we are.

So I will keep playing on my computer until beddyby comes around, because I know it may only be a four hour drive tomorrow but probably have to get up early to drive through more trees.  At least we will get out at the ice fields and get to walk around a little.  Maybe even go out and see the view from the glass platform. Oh walk out on glass and look down to see nothing but the ground getting further and further away as you walk out more.  It is an eerie feeling but I hope once we are out at the edge the view will be worth it.

Well the last of the drive will be worth it as well.  Our last stop before we head home is fairmont hot springs.  Heaven I will be in heaven.  Love going to the hotsprings.  The heat just feels so good.

Well will talk again tomorrow night

Well making another day around the province

Today was kinda a bust for me.

We got up at 7 this morning so we could get on the road as we figured it was going to be a long drive.

Away from Whistler and on the road.  Heading expats now over to Liloette I know bad spelling.  Anyways and making it over to highway 97 were we will head north.  Highway 99. A beautiful drive but there are allot of switchbacks and lots of curves.  So have to take it slow.  Plus allot of idiot drivers on the road that figure if you are going to slow that they should pass when it is not safe.  Chez!!! Well we made it safely to highway 97 just south of Clinton.  Started heading north.

I think I missed most of highway 99 and also missed allot of highway 97.  Family tip rip bi put when you get me up early and on the road I will tend to nod of over and over again.  I may have seen a bit of the drive but I think I saw allot more of my eyelids then anything. Some great company I am on a drive.  Well you know I need my beauty sleep a heck of allot more.  I had my sunglasses on so I don't know if someone else knew I was sleeping most of the time or just a little.  I think it was most of the time.  I would nod off and then bounce back awake and then the eyes would get heavy again and off I go.

We went through beautiful sunshine to dang cool air were a lot of rain came down.  I had to put a sweater over my arms for awhile because someone else loves to keep it cold.  So I bundle up.  Then he looks at me like it is not cold in here.  I hate to differ with him but yeah I am cold.  Still didn't stop me from taking cat naps.  I think he realized I was once or twice though.  He gave me a bit of a nudge and said look over there.  I was actully awake at that time and did see the deer that almost made a hood ornament for the truck ahead of us.  Deer and truck made it through okay though.  The deer ran off into the woods.  Then truck in front slowed down his driving a little after that though.

Finally made it into Quenell were we got gas and a pee break.  Then turned off onto the road for Barkerville.  That was a it of a drive. Between rain and sunshine.  Depending on what side of the mountains you were on.  We got into Barkerville at 3:30. Found a parking spot and grabbed our luggage and headed for the front gate.  Oh did I forget to mention. We have a reservation to stay at the bed and breakfast right in Barkerville.
Not a great picture but this is the bed we are going to sleep in tonight.  Canopy bed and old fashion wallpaper.  A very small room but is interesting.  We dropped off our luggage and then went to get something to eat.  Walked down a ways and popped into one of the resteraunts and have a well proportioned meal.  After our meal was over we started to walk around the buildings that are here. Oh I found bling and clothes and oh it is just fascination to me.  There area couple of things I may buy tomorrow before we leave.  There is a kimono in the Chinese shop that is just covered with. Bling.  It may be with me when I leave.  Plus maybe some deserts from the pastry shop.  Well just thinking

Tomorrow will be another early morning as we have to make it to our next stop tomorrow or is a reservation I have.  So going more north tomorrow and then east to go back down through the national park the next day.  Gonna freeze our tushes at the ice fields in two days.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a little warmer and I rain.  I love watching the scenery if I can keep my eyes open to watch it. But alashewants to get up early again tomorrow. I guess I may be getting more beautysleepwhile we drive again

Monday 27 July 2015

Hi all. Day two of out on the road

After a nasty night of not sleeping well finally decided to get up.  We had a few activities to do today anyways so might as well get up have some breakie and then take a walk to get the kinks out.  And I do mean kinks.  That bed was nothing to write home about, but we have one more night with it before we head on our way again.  Well something to really look forward to.

So once we got ourselves roused and moving we were still too early to sign in to do tree top adventure.  So decided to take a walk and see what else we could see.well we found another part of whistler village that we did not see last night.  Allot ore shops to look at and more eating places.  We also found where they were giving awards for yesterday's triathlon.  So there was a few people around there.

Oh I found a hat shop there.  Red hats, purple hats, blue ones and leather or cloth.  Lots and lots of hats.  I was in my glory just looking at them.  No decorated ones but found something I had been looking for for quite a while.  A straw type hat that will let the breast blow through keep the sun off and I will not sweat too much wearing it.  It was made in Australia and I bought it and wore it for the rest of the day.  Worked beautifully.  Not red but it does the trick for what I want on really sunny days.  My eyes do not take the sun very well anymore so it shaded the eyes and I could see allot better.

We then came back to the room got our jackets as we would beheading up the mountain later on.  But first we had to sign up for tree top adventure.  You walk trails and stairs and swinging bridges.  Watched the zip liners doing their thing through the trees and said that doesn't look too bad. I am going to try that.  Well not this trip but maybe some other time.   The chicken shit is going to do this.  Probably scream her head off but yes I am going to do it.  Now it will be just getting past talking about it and really doing it.  Well back to our tree top adventure.  You where half way up the trees walking around.  On platforms and swinging bridges between them.  You could feel the swaying of the trees and walking on the bridges you would bounce all over the place.  You were up high enough to see a river below way down below.  And the zip liners were flying by at all different angles.  I enjoyed that walk through the bush.

After we came back from that we we where just coming to were the bus picked us up again and watched a couple of bobsleds going down the tube.  They do this when someone wants to go down.  One huge tobagan ride.  I would be afraid that the sled would go were you didn't want it to go and you would be off the track.

The bus took us back to the village.  We then got in line to go up whistler mountain.  Took a little while to get to the front of the line and get on the car going to the top.  We went up and up and up and up.  Made one stop about one quarter of the way up.  Bicyclers get off there to ride back down.  We then started up some more.  Just kept going up and the ears are popping and the air is getting cooler.  Well worth the ride to the top though.  The cycles are up here too riding around.  They are everywhere.  More cycles are down in the village then there are cars.  Once we got off that car we walked over to the other building and got on the peak to peak gondola.  There was a huge line up.  But this was for people who wanted to ride the glass bottom gondola.  There was only two of them running.  So people had to wait.  We got in the other line and it moved allot faster.  We where on in no time and started our ride across to black comb mountain.  Wow what a view from there.  We went down a little ways and the across and back up a little ways on the other side to get to the turnstile there.  No towers in between just the wires holding us there to get across.  On the otherwise they were doing construction so no real building to go into.  Could have walked the trail a little but instead got back on the godala and headed back across to whistler mountain.  We waited for the glass bottom one this time.  A little bit of a wait but the line was not as long on this side.  Back across we went.  Saw a bear on the way back below us walking on one of the roads. Just ambling his way along.

After getting off we wandered around for a little bit.  Went up to the viewing area at the top of the building.  Then decided it was getting a little nippy and headed back down the mountain.  Aw!!  Warmer weather down below.  Headed back to the room got rid of our coats and had ourselves a lovely dinner at the keg.  Expensive but yummy steak.

We then took one more look around the village.  Seeing if there was anything worth buying.  I said we could go back to the hat store.  But was told I had already got one.  Oh well.  We check out the clothing stores for a jacket but did not get one and then I dragged him into bear expressions.  This place has all sorts of Jammie's with saying on them.  I got a giggle out of reading them.  What I was looking for was the bottoms to go with a top I already have, but they didn't have it.  I guess I will have to keep with he ones I have already.  Oh I seen another of I am not fat just fluffy in one of the stores. If anyone was interested.

Well didn't find a jacket or anything else to buy.  Are ow back at the room enjoying a little quiet time after all the walking we did today.  Tomorrow will be on the road for about eight hours or so to get to our next stop. The gold mining town of Barkerville.  We have a reservation to spend the night in one of the hotels on site.  This will be interesting

So catch you when I have internet again.  I doubt Barkerville will have.  Way out in the boonies and it off from everything.

Sunday 26 July 2015

Its vacation time again

One frig of a tiny day today.  Well that is suppose to be how a holiday starts..  It just pissed down rain.  Buckets and buckets.  Had to walk the dogs before we left and just everything was soaked.  The clothes I put on for traveling.  Wet.  Just lovely.

You know for the last month and half all we had was nice sunny weather.  Not a drop of rain.  Warm sunny weather to boot.  Now the first day of holidays and it pours.

Well we did get the dogs walked and all packed up and on the road.  At least with it pouring we didn't take the bike.  I said we were not driving on the bike anyways.  Just wanted a nice relaxing drive around BC.  Is all he said we were going to do.  He did suggest the bike a couple of times, but that got put on the back burner.  Thank goodness for that. I didn't need a sore tush again.

So after our walk with the dogs got back home and changed into some dryer clothes.  Packed up the rest of the stuff we were taking and on the road we headed.

First stop was Whistler.  Got the GPS all set up so I didn't have to keep telling him were to turn or that he missed his turn back there or something like that.  I just say the GPS should have something instead of recalculating.  How about you stupid arse. You should have turned back there. Or why are you going straight through I told you to go that way.  But instead it is nice and pleasant and says recaculating like you didn't do anything wrong at all.  Just so nice and pleasent.

Well we made it out of the house around 12 and have a nice quiet drive through Vancouver.  Oh yeah right nice quiet drive through Vancouver.  I did say that already didn't I?  You know actually the highway wasn't that bad.  Got through Vancouver and to the sea to sky highway without too much of any block ups at all.

We made a stop at the Britannia mine at Britannia beach.  Had never stopped there before.  Still doing a bit of rain but. Ow you can finally see some blue sky.  So hopefully do not get rained on too much.  Got there in time to take a train ride in ten minutes down through the mine.  Lovely.  Someone who is a little claustrophobic mind you just a little. Going down in a mine under many piles of rock.  Water dripping overhead.  Well I did do it but was not walking too straight when we came back out of there.  The train took us in one side were we road past the dinamite shed and then on to were the drilling equipment is.  The tour guide even started up one of the drills.  So loud and noisy.  The men that worked in the mines must have been deaf after working with that equipment for so long.  Plus all the dirt and rap that got into their lungs from breathing in what they were drilling. That was a lousy job I say.  Even worse when they did not have much light down there to work with.  The guide turned off the lights and showed what their working condition were like.  Dark, wet and musty.  Yuk!!!

When we came out of the mine we went to be shown what happens to the rock that is drilled and dynamited out.  To get the copper out of the rock they had to crush it down and then put it in a machine were it makes the copper float to the top in a foam.  Then the foam is cleared off and washed to have as much copper as they can from the foam.  They then still may have rock in with the copper so they transport it off some other place to be more refined.  It is a very long process to get the copper out of the rock.  Some of the men had to work in the mill.  Working up at least four stories high.  The only way to get there was a stairway. Straight up.  They had to walk up it at the beginning of their shift. That is one workout all on its own.

Well after the tour I got to do my favourite thing.  Check out the gift shops. Still raining a it so did not spend too much time out looking at equipment.  Well the tour was interesting.  In its own way.  Just made for the rest of my day walking not too straight.  He kept telling me to stop cutting him off.  Not my fault though.

So back on the road again. As we got closer to Whistler there was a few more cars around.  We were hoping to get here after the triathlon was over but there was still people and roads blocked off.  The GPS tried to take us down a street that was blocked off. So again recalculating and around another block which was also closed off as well.  Gee are we ever going to get to our hotel or are we going to be going around in circles waiting for a road to open up.  Well after allot of turning around we did make it to the hotel.  Got booked in and then found out our lift tickets did not get delivered to the hotel and had to go out and find out were they were.  So a little walking had to be done.

People, people everywhere.  Walking in the rain.  In resteraunts,  going up on the chairlifts with bikes and riding down the trail to the bottom.  Just to go back up again and ride their bikes down again.  I guess that is skiing in the summer in the rain.  Someone had said that it snowed at the top today.  So much for warm weather for our trip.

Anyways we did find were we were suppose to be tomorrow for our tree top adventure and were else to get the tickets for the gondola ride.  So tomorrow hope it does not keep raining and that the sun will come out and warm up a little.  So we can enjoy a day here and go up the mountain with out freezing my pattooti off or getting wet.  So tomorrow will be enjoying a tree top adventure.  May not be as exciting as the advertisements are but it is something to do and then we are going to the top of the mountain to ride the peak to peak gondola ride.  There is also zip lines here but I think we are just a little too heavy to be on one of them.  It does sound like a fun time though.

So until tomorrow.  It is time to get some shuteye as right now the yawns are starting to take over
