Its vacation time again

One frig of a tiny day today.  Well that is suppose to be how a holiday starts..  It just pissed down rain.  Buckets and buckets.  Had to walk the dogs before we left and just everything was soaked.  The clothes I put on for traveling.  Wet.  Just lovely.

You know for the last month and half all we had was nice sunny weather.  Not a drop of rain.  Warm sunny weather to boot.  Now the first day of holidays and it pours.

Well we did get the dogs walked and all packed up and on the road.  At least with it pouring we didn't take the bike.  I said we were not driving on the bike anyways.  Just wanted a nice relaxing drive around BC.  Is all he said we were going to do.  He did suggest the bike a couple of times, but that got put on the back burner.  Thank goodness for that. I didn't need a sore tush again.

So after our walk with the dogs got back home and changed into some dryer clothes.  Packed up the rest of the stuff we were taking and on the road we headed.

First stop was Whistler.  Got the GPS all set up so I didn't have to keep telling him were to turn or that he missed his turn back there or something like that.  I just say the GPS should have something instead of recalculating.  How about you stupid arse. You should have turned back there. Or why are you going straight through I told you to go that way.  But instead it is nice and pleasant and says recaculating like you didn't do anything wrong at all.  Just so nice and pleasent.

Well we made it out of the house around 12 and have a nice quiet drive through Vancouver.  Oh yeah right nice quiet drive through Vancouver.  I did say that already didn't I?  You know actually the highway wasn't that bad.  Got through Vancouver and to the sea to sky highway without too much of any block ups at all.

We made a stop at the Britannia mine at Britannia beach.  Had never stopped there before.  Still doing a bit of rain but. Ow you can finally see some blue sky.  So hopefully do not get rained on too much.  Got there in time to take a train ride in ten minutes down through the mine.  Lovely.  Someone who is a little claustrophobic mind you just a little. Going down in a mine under many piles of rock.  Water dripping overhead.  Well I did do it but was not walking too straight when we came back out of there.  The train took us in one side were we road past the dinamite shed and then on to were the drilling equipment is.  The tour guide even started up one of the drills.  So loud and noisy.  The men that worked in the mines must have been deaf after working with that equipment for so long.  Plus all the dirt and rap that got into their lungs from breathing in what they were drilling. That was a lousy job I say.  Even worse when they did not have much light down there to work with.  The guide turned off the lights and showed what their working condition were like.  Dark, wet and musty.  Yuk!!!

When we came out of the mine we went to be shown what happens to the rock that is drilled and dynamited out.  To get the copper out of the rock they had to crush it down and then put it in a machine were it makes the copper float to the top in a foam.  Then the foam is cleared off and washed to have as much copper as they can from the foam.  They then still may have rock in with the copper so they transport it off some other place to be more refined.  It is a very long process to get the copper out of the rock.  Some of the men had to work in the mill.  Working up at least four stories high.  The only way to get there was a stairway. Straight up.  They had to walk up it at the beginning of their shift. That is one workout all on its own.

Well after the tour I got to do my favourite thing.  Check out the gift shops. Still raining a it so did not spend too much time out looking at equipment.  Well the tour was interesting.  In its own way.  Just made for the rest of my day walking not too straight.  He kept telling me to stop cutting him off.  Not my fault though.

So back on the road again. As we got closer to Whistler there was a few more cars around.  We were hoping to get here after the triathlon was over but there was still people and roads blocked off.  The GPS tried to take us down a street that was blocked off. So again recalculating and around another block which was also closed off as well.  Gee are we ever going to get to our hotel or are we going to be going around in circles waiting for a road to open up.  Well after allot of turning around we did make it to the hotel.  Got booked in and then found out our lift tickets did not get delivered to the hotel and had to go out and find out were they were.  So a little walking had to be done.

People, people everywhere.  Walking in the rain.  In resteraunts,  going up on the chairlifts with bikes and riding down the trail to the bottom.  Just to go back up again and ride their bikes down again.  I guess that is skiing in the summer in the rain.  Someone had said that it snowed at the top today.  So much for warm weather for our trip.

Anyways we did find were we were suppose to be tomorrow for our tree top adventure and were else to get the tickets for the gondola ride.  So tomorrow hope it does not keep raining and that the sun will come out and warm up a little.  So we can enjoy a day here and go up the mountain with out freezing my pattooti off or getting wet.  So tomorrow will be enjoying a tree top adventure.  May not be as exciting as the advertisements are but it is something to do and then we are going to the top of the mountain to ride the peak to peak gondola ride.  There is also zip lines here but I think we are just a little too heavy to be on one of them.  It does sound like a fun time though.

So until tomorrow.  It is time to get some shuteye as right now the yawns are starting to take over
