Another day done. And dang does BC have allot of trees

Was up early again this morning.  Had to be down for breakfast just after eight.  That is when the bed and breakfast we stayed at last night was serving.  Well she did two servings.  The first was at eight and the second was at eight fourty five.  We were down there in plenty of time but the table was already full.  So we wandered around Barkerville for a little while.  Took our luggage back to the car and then sat outside for awhile and waited for the second seating.

We had stayed at the St George burped and breakfast for the night.  Had a room on the second floor and it had its own bathroom.  That is a plus in itself.  A beautiful canopy bed, but have a bathroom made the room a little smaller to facilitate it.  She had a full house for the night.  So we were not the only silly people that decided to drive out to Barkerville to wander around for a while.  Our fourth or fifth time there and then stay for the night.  We can say at least that we stayed in Barkerville for the night. I had a dang good sleep until the heat got turned down. I was ice and cozy but someone said he couldn't breath because it was too hot. So I had to get cold for the night. Dang the other person.

A few funny things though in the morning.  There were trucks making deliveries and cars that belonged to staff were sitting out in plane view.  It use to be that everything was delivered in by horse and wagon,  now they come into modern times and have delivery by truck.  The trucks and cars had to be out of sight before they opened though.  But just to see them in there in the morning was kinda a sight.

When we came back in the gate after taking ourluggageto the car we where told that part of the areas had been closed down for the day.  There was a cougar in the area so people could not go past china town to look around.  There was a hall up the street a little further that you could walk to and see a show of some kind but that was blocked off today because of a very big pussy cat.  Well I don't think I would like to see this pussy cat anyways.

We had our breakfast.  Took a look at the gift shop, couldn't go back to the china town to look at something I was interested in buying, so just headed out the gate and on the road again.  Heading east out of the valley, then north to Prince George,  then headed east towards the Jasper national park.  The gas situation was getting a little touchy there for a bit.  He said I may have to get out and push.  I said what about him.  He says he is the driver so passenger gets to push.  Never heard of that rule before.

We got to McBride and yes a gas station.  You know we should have taken my bug it gets better gas mileage then his jeep.  But he would not have been comfortable is my little bug.  That would have also made it so I was driving.  Um!!  I don't think so with his complaining about my driving.  I will just sit in the passenger seat and keep me mouth shut.  Well that's what I do most of the time anyways.  Keep,e mouth shut and to complain about anything. Or I will bein dodo for something that came out of my mouth up expectantly.

Well northern BC.  Sure as heck are allot of trees and not much else.  Let's see did see some wildlife.  Well almost.  A cow or two as we past a farm then it was back into the trees again.  Not even much in the way of towns to stop the manotany.

But finally we came into the mountains.  There is mount Robson and terry fox mountain.  Through that national park and then onto Jasper national park.  Paid our dues to stay the night.  Found a nice little place to put our head down for the night.  Took a walk around the little bit of down town.  Looking for a place to eat.  Well there is this place,  how about here.  Someone was getting testy so he had to eat soon.  Finally decided and went in to eat.  Aw food.  Yeah I was getting a little testy as well with only eating some junk food this afternoon.

Ah speaking of junk food I found some more green shoestring licoric.  Oh boy the best junk food there is. Can only seem to find it around here.  But I love the stuff and buy it when ever I see it. The little kid in me I guess.

We now sit in our room.  I silence.  The TV not on and I am on my computer that he says I am addicted to and he is reading.  Such fun people we are.

So I will keep playing on my computer until beddyby comes around, because I know it may only be a four hour drive tomorrow but probably have to get up early to drive through more trees.  At least we will get out at the ice fields and get to walk around a little.  Maybe even go out and see the view from the glass platform. Oh walk out on glass and look down to see nothing but the ground getting further and further away as you walk out more.  It is an eerie feeling but I hope once we are out at the edge the view will be worth it.

Well the last of the drive will be worth it as well.  Our last stop before we head home is fairmont hot springs.  Heaven I will be in heaven.  Love going to the hotsprings.  The heat just feels so good.

Well will talk again tomorrow night

Well making another day around the province

Today was kinda a bust for me.

We got up at 7 this morning so we could get on the road as we figured it was going to be a long drive.

Away from Whistler and on the road.  Heading expats now over to Liloette I know bad spelling.  Anyways and making it over to highway 97 were we will head north.  Highway 99. A beautiful drive but there are allot of switchbacks and lots of curves.  So have to take it slow.  Plus allot of idiot drivers on the road that figure if you are going to slow that they should pass when it is not safe.  Chez!!! Well we made it safely to highway 97 just south of Clinton.  Started heading north.

I think I missed most of highway 99 and also missed allot of highway 97.  Family tip rip bi put when you get me up early and on the road I will tend to nod of over and over again.  I may have seen a bit of the drive but I think I saw allot more of my eyelids then anything. Some great company I am on a drive.  Well you know I need my beauty sleep a heck of allot more.  I had my sunglasses on so I don't know if someone else knew I was sleeping most of the time or just a little.  I think it was most of the time.  I would nod off and then bounce back awake and then the eyes would get heavy again and off I go.

We went through beautiful sunshine to dang cool air were a lot of rain came down.  I had to put a sweater over my arms for awhile because someone else loves to keep it cold.  So I bundle up.  Then he looks at me like it is not cold in here.  I hate to differ with him but yeah I am cold.  Still didn't stop me from taking cat naps.  I think he realized I was once or twice though.  He gave me a bit of a nudge and said look over there.  I was actully awake at that time and did see the deer that almost made a hood ornament for the truck ahead of us.  Deer and truck made it through okay though.  The deer ran off into the woods.  Then truck in front slowed down his driving a little after that though.

Finally made it into Quenell were we got gas and a pee break.  Then turned off onto the road for Barkerville.  That was a it of a drive. Between rain and sunshine.  Depending on what side of the mountains you were on.  We got into Barkerville at 3:30. Found a parking spot and grabbed our luggage and headed for the front gate.  Oh did I forget to mention. We have a reservation to stay at the bed and breakfast right in Barkerville.
Not a great picture but this is the bed we are going to sleep in tonight.  Canopy bed and old fashion wallpaper.  A very small room but is interesting.  We dropped off our luggage and then went to get something to eat.  Walked down a ways and popped into one of the resteraunts and have a well proportioned meal.  After our meal was over we started to walk around the buildings that are here. Oh I found bling and clothes and oh it is just fascination to me.  There area couple of things I may buy tomorrow before we leave.  There is a kimono in the Chinese shop that is just covered with. Bling.  It may be with me when I leave.  Plus maybe some deserts from the pastry shop.  Well just thinking

Tomorrow will be another early morning as we have to make it to our next stop tomorrow or is a reservation I have.  So going more north tomorrow and then east to go back down through the national park the next day.  Gonna freeze our tushes at the ice fields in two days.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a little warmer and I rain.  I love watching the scenery if I can keep my eyes open to watch it. But alashewants to get up early again tomorrow. I guess I may be getting more beautysleepwhile we drive again

Hi all. Day two of out on the road

After a nasty night of not sleeping well finally decided to get up.  We had a few activities to do today anyways so might as well get up have some breakie and then take a walk to get the kinks out.  And I do mean kinks.  That bed was nothing to write home about, but we have one more night with it before we head on our way again.  Well something to really look forward to.

So once we got ourselves roused and moving we were still too early to sign in to do tree top adventure.  So decided to take a walk and see what else we could see.well we found another part of whistler village that we did not see last night.  Allot ore shops to look at and more eating places.  We also found where they were giving awards for yesterday's triathlon.  So there was a few people around there.

Oh I found a hat shop there.  Red hats, purple hats, blue ones and leather or cloth.  Lots and lots of hats.  I was in my glory just looking at them.  No decorated ones but found something I had been looking for for quite a while.  A straw type hat that will let the breast blow through keep the sun off and I will not sweat too much wearing it.  It was made in Australia and I bought it and wore it for the rest of the day.  Worked beautifully.  Not red but it does the trick for what I want on really sunny days.  My eyes do not take the sun very well anymore so it shaded the eyes and I could see allot better.

We then came back to the room got our jackets as we would beheading up the mountain later on.  But first we had to sign up for tree top adventure.  You walk trails and stairs and swinging bridges.  Watched the zip liners doing their thing through the trees and said that doesn't look too bad. I am going to try that.  Well not this trip but maybe some other time.   The chicken shit is going to do this.  Probably scream her head off but yes I am going to do it.  Now it will be just getting past talking about it and really doing it.  Well back to our tree top adventure.  You where half way up the trees walking around.  On platforms and swinging bridges between them.  You could feel the swaying of the trees and walking on the bridges you would bounce all over the place.  You were up high enough to see a river below way down below.  And the zip liners were flying by at all different angles.  I enjoyed that walk through the bush.

After we came back from that we we where just coming to were the bus picked us up again and watched a couple of bobsleds going down the tube.  They do this when someone wants to go down.  One huge tobagan ride.  I would be afraid that the sled would go were you didn't want it to go and you would be off the track.

The bus took us back to the village.  We then got in line to go up whistler mountain.  Took a little while to get to the front of the line and get on the car going to the top.  We went up and up and up and up.  Made one stop about one quarter of the way up.  Bicyclers get off there to ride back down.  We then started up some more.  Just kept going up and the ears are popping and the air is getting cooler.  Well worth the ride to the top though.  The cycles are up here too riding around.  They are everywhere.  More cycles are down in the village then there are cars.  Once we got off that car we walked over to the other building and got on the peak to peak gondola.  There was a huge line up.  But this was for people who wanted to ride the glass bottom gondola.  There was only two of them running.  So people had to wait.  We got in the other line and it moved allot faster.  We where on in no time and started our ride across to black comb mountain.  Wow what a view from there.  We went down a little ways and the across and back up a little ways on the other side to get to the turnstile there.  No towers in between just the wires holding us there to get across.  On the otherwise they were doing construction so no real building to go into.  Could have walked the trail a little but instead got back on the godala and headed back across to whistler mountain.  We waited for the glass bottom one this time.  A little bit of a wait but the line was not as long on this side.  Back across we went.  Saw a bear on the way back below us walking on one of the roads. Just ambling his way along.

After getting off we wandered around for a little bit.  Went up to the viewing area at the top of the building.  Then decided it was getting a little nippy and headed back down the mountain.  Aw!!  Warmer weather down below.  Headed back to the room got rid of our coats and had ourselves a lovely dinner at the keg.  Expensive but yummy steak.

We then took one more look around the village.  Seeing if there was anything worth buying.  I said we could go back to the hat store.  But was told I had already got one.  Oh well.  We check out the clothing stores for a jacket but did not get one and then I dragged him into bear expressions.  This place has all sorts of Jammie's with saying on them.  I got a giggle out of reading them.  What I was looking for was the bottoms to go with a top I already have, but they didn't have it.  I guess I will have to keep with he ones I have already.  Oh I seen another of I am not fat just fluffy in one of the stores. If anyone was interested.

Well didn't find a jacket or anything else to buy.  Are ow back at the room enjoying a little quiet time after all the walking we did today.  Tomorrow will be on the road for about eight hours or so to get to our next stop. The gold mining town of Barkerville.  We have a reservation to spend the night in one of the hotels on site.  This will be interesting

So catch you when I have internet again.  I doubt Barkerville will have.  Way out in the boonies and it off from everything.

Its vacation time again

One frig of a tiny day today.  Well that is suppose to be how a holiday starts..  It just pissed down rain.  Buckets and buckets.  Had to walk the dogs before we left and just everything was soaked.  The clothes I put on for traveling.  Wet.  Just lovely.

You know for the last month and half all we had was nice sunny weather.  Not a drop of rain.  Warm sunny weather to boot.  Now the first day of holidays and it pours.

Well we did get the dogs walked and all packed up and on the road.  At least with it pouring we didn't take the bike.  I said we were not driving on the bike anyways.  Just wanted a nice relaxing drive around BC.  Is all he said we were going to do.  He did suggest the bike a couple of times, but that got put on the back burner.  Thank goodness for that. I didn't need a sore tush again.

So after our walk with the dogs got back home and changed into some dryer clothes.  Packed up the rest of the stuff we were taking and on the road we headed.

First stop was Whistler.  Got the GPS all set up so I didn't have to keep telling him were to turn or that he missed his turn back there or something like that.  I just say the GPS should have something instead of recalculating.  How about you stupid arse. You should have turned back there. Or why are you going straight through I told you to go that way.  But instead it is nice and pleasant and says recaculating like you didn't do anything wrong at all.  Just so nice and pleasent.

Well we made it out of the house around 12 and have a nice quiet drive through Vancouver.  Oh yeah right nice quiet drive through Vancouver.  I did say that already didn't I?  You know actually the highway wasn't that bad.  Got through Vancouver and to the sea to sky highway without too much of any block ups at all.

We made a stop at the Britannia mine at Britannia beach.  Had never stopped there before.  Still doing a bit of rain but. Ow you can finally see some blue sky.  So hopefully do not get rained on too much.  Got there in time to take a train ride in ten minutes down through the mine.  Lovely.  Someone who is a little claustrophobic mind you just a little. Going down in a mine under many piles of rock.  Water dripping overhead.  Well I did do it but was not walking too straight when we came back out of there.  The train took us in one side were we road past the dinamite shed and then on to were the drilling equipment is.  The tour guide even started up one of the drills.  So loud and noisy.  The men that worked in the mines must have been deaf after working with that equipment for so long.  Plus all the dirt and rap that got into their lungs from breathing in what they were drilling. That was a lousy job I say.  Even worse when they did not have much light down there to work with.  The guide turned off the lights and showed what their working condition were like.  Dark, wet and musty.  Yuk!!!

When we came out of the mine we went to be shown what happens to the rock that is drilled and dynamited out.  To get the copper out of the rock they had to crush it down and then put it in a machine were it makes the copper float to the top in a foam.  Then the foam is cleared off and washed to have as much copper as they can from the foam.  They then still may have rock in with the copper so they transport it off some other place to be more refined.  It is a very long process to get the copper out of the rock.  Some of the men had to work in the mill.  Working up at least four stories high.  The only way to get there was a stairway. Straight up.  They had to walk up it at the beginning of their shift. That is one workout all on its own.

Well after the tour I got to do my favourite thing.  Check out the gift shops. Still raining a it so did not spend too much time out looking at equipment.  Well the tour was interesting.  In its own way.  Just made for the rest of my day walking not too straight.  He kept telling me to stop cutting him off.  Not my fault though.

So back on the road again. As we got closer to Whistler there was a few more cars around.  We were hoping to get here after the triathlon was over but there was still people and roads blocked off.  The GPS tried to take us down a street that was blocked off. So again recalculating and around another block which was also closed off as well.  Gee are we ever going to get to our hotel or are we going to be going around in circles waiting for a road to open up.  Well after allot of turning around we did make it to the hotel.  Got booked in and then found out our lift tickets did not get delivered to the hotel and had to go out and find out were they were.  So a little walking had to be done.

People, people everywhere.  Walking in the rain.  In resteraunts,  going up on the chairlifts with bikes and riding down the trail to the bottom.  Just to go back up again and ride their bikes down again.  I guess that is skiing in the summer in the rain.  Someone had said that it snowed at the top today.  So much for warm weather for our trip.

Anyways we did find were we were suppose to be tomorrow for our tree top adventure and were else to get the tickets for the gondola ride.  So tomorrow hope it does not keep raining and that the sun will come out and warm up a little.  So we can enjoy a day here and go up the mountain with out freezing my pattooti off or getting wet.  So tomorrow will be enjoying a tree top adventure.  May not be as exciting as the advertisements are but it is something to do and then we are going to the top of the mountain to ride the peak to peak gondola ride.  There is also zip lines here but I think we are just a little too heavy to be on one of them.  It does sound like a fun time though.

So until tomorrow.  It is time to get some shuteye as right now the yawns are starting to take over

Should I write or just lay down and sleep

Well today is Thursday.  Just a day and half and I am heading home to great rainy North.  Well I think it is probably raining.  It mostly always rains there.

We have been living down here for a week and half.  Beautiful weather a little rain and a couple of thunder storms.    The heat is great but still is not doing much for my aches and pains.  Hands still tell me they are stiff and sore.  Legs do not want to walk my punch anymore.  My back says are you done yet.  My body is talking to me about allot of things.  But I just keep trucking along.  Want to get in as much and see as much as I can and do as much as I can.  It may be cutting into my retirement fund but hey I got to do what I got to do in order to get some bucket lists done before I am not able to do them.  I don't want to say I could have but I didn't because I wham just too chicken to do it.  So pushing myself to get it done before I end up were I can not walk anymore or do the stuff I love to do.  Older age will be fun spoor some people for me old age is going to be a different story.

So today I got up and went out and did some more exploring to see as much of New Orleans as I can. Before I head home.   Yes my feet are telling me about it but who the heck cares.  The aches and pains can live with me but they are not going to get me down if I can help it.

We didn't get up none too early today.  I guess rest was in the forecast.  But then again British Columbia time is two hours behind New Orleans time.  So if you look at it that way we did get up in a good time if we were in BC. But late for being in Louisiana.

So today I said food wise just want something small and understandable.  I wanted some chees sticks.   Not the spicy food that I have been seeing of late.  So I said we are going to Arby's which is just around the corner.  I am going to have some cheese sticks and a cherry turnover.  Oh yes oooie goose cheese sticks.  I do love them once in while and that is what I was going to get.  Rob said you are in NO should be trying new foods and experiencing the culture.  Phooey on culture just some plane old cheese sticks.    I got my way.  He wasn't too happy about it though or is was that he was tired and did not go to sleep last night.  That could have had something to do with it.

So after we finished our meal we went and got a ticket for the trolley.  Made plans to go either to the zoo or to layfette cemetary.  Road the trolley to epwere the first stop would have been.  All of a sudden the clouds opened up and windows were being closed on the trolley.  It was a huge down pour.  Water Justin pouring down.  I think we should stay on and just ride for a little bit and see if it stops any time shortly.  Well the zoo stop came and went.  We got off at the end of the ride and got on another trolley heading back towards down town.  Rain not stopping.  I guess we are not getting off.

It starts to get very humid now and the rain starts slowing down.  The thing is we are past were we were going to get off so just keep riding it down town and look around there again.  Last stop off we get.

Okay now what do we do.  I guess go over to the ticket booth and trade in our voucher for the ticket for the ghost tour.  After that is done go along decanter street and Rob buys some pralines and a bit of chocolate.  Which I promptly ate.  Sucker for chocolate.

We head over to were the carriages are and see if we can go for another ride.  We want to see the cemetary. But unfortunately the cemetary is closed because of construction going on around there.  Oh well won't see that cemetary either.

I find a hippy shop to look in.  The clothes are loose fitting and tie dyed.  The kind of close I wear.  I find something I would like to buy.  But I don't for some reason.  Maybe I can go back there again tomorrow.  Just for a little drop in and look at it again.  Do I really need it that is the million dollar question and yes I do not have a million dollars.

So We end up going back to the room and drop off his pralines.  Just so they do not get softer Sitting in a bag. The bag is getting a little wet and stuff is starting to tear the bag.  Got to get it back somewhere so he isn't dropping anything.

We stop in at a seafood resteraunts to have a little supper.  I eat the gumbo.  Something I can eat without burning my mouth on the spices.  It was pretty good but for some reason the chicken tasted mor elite beef.

After a little rest in the room we go back down to the tickets centre and wait for our tour.  Not long and a few people are waiting for same tour.  There is about 18 of us to listen in about ghosts.  She tells us allot a folklore of a few of the people that had been killed or, but we do not see any ghosts.  So. Ugh for a spookie tour.

Tired and hot and my legs and back and feet are really am starting to tell me stories.  So now back in our room and I am sitting with my feet up.  That dirt tan is back again.  I will fix that in the morning.  For now just sitting here is the best medicine.  Tomorrow one more day before we fly out on Saturday.  Hope weather is better then when we flew in.  Do not need to sit on a plane for any length of time.

That will really play havoc on my body.maybe tomorrow will hit the cemetary off of St Charles.  That is if is not raining.  I have a few things I have seen that I would like to buy.  So maybe a little shopping in hand for tomorrow.  Or just lookie louing. And saying do I really need it

So one more day to write in this blog and then heading for home to my hum drum life.   Talk to you tomorrow if I am not to sleepy.

Wednesday, 22 April 2015

Well I have day three and four in New Orleans.

Way too tired last night to get this one the road and write down what I had done yesterday.  Just sat and let the feet relax and cool down.  Then falling asleep last night not getting up until 10 this morning.  Well that made for missing part of the day.  We had a few plans for today but I guess they are going to be out on the back burner till tomorrow.

Yesterday was a great day.  All except having to get up early to catch a tour bus outside our hotel.  Bus was to be there at 7:45,  hmmm!  When we walked down at 7:00 to get something to eat from the continetal breakfast he was already outside.  Well I guess he is going to have to wait a little.  I need food on my stomach or my drugs will upset my stomach.  That would make the day a little rotten then wouldn't it.

Walked out to get on the bus at 7:30.  First thing he said was I think you should put on some pants. These jet boats go fourty miles an hour and it can get a might chilly.  Well I did have a sweater but went back up stairs and slipped on a pair of pants just in case.  Came back down boarded the bus and we were off to pick up a few more that we're going on the tour.  There was twelve in all from fpdifferent hotels in the neighbourhood.  Two from Australia,  two from Oklahoma,  and the rest by golly were from Canada.  Two of the ladies just came to from the next town from were I live.  We are practically neighbours. So to speak.

After all were picked up we were on our way.  First stop the swamp tour. A ride on the airboat.  Six got on each  boat.  Puttered along in the water down one canal to another.  Telling us stories about the canals and how they were constructed and that they were the waterways or roads for the area.  Can get you just about anywere if you follow the right route.

Then he opened it up.  Down one canal and up another. Through dense cypress trees some of them over 100 years old.  We slowed down and he turned off the motor.  Over on the shore was and alligator sunning him self.  A little ways down another one.  This one ready for food.  Came into the water and over close to the boat.  The guide threw out some marshmallow and the alligator came closer.  Okay that is close enough.

The guide stopped in another place turned off his motor and started talking about a murder mystery he was writing.  It was about a tour guide who gives tours in the swamp.  It seems that none of his group never seem to come back from their tours.  He is never really caught but people are disappearing.  He then picks up a stick and says he has decided on his next chapter.  Starts to point it at the Aussie but then uses the stick to push us away from the trees we are slowly guiding into.

He then started up the motor again and off we go again. Every so often you can see a gator in the water ahead of us.  They plop under the water as the boat goes over top of them.  He then takes the boat down a water way that does not seem to have any water.  We go over humps of dirt and then he stops for only a minute then gets us over the hump.  Said there was a razor back snake there.  Glad I didn't see it.  Not much on snakes.  We then zoom on full speed back to the dock.  Were we get off and are back in the bus.

Our next stop is a little ways along the Mississippi River.  We pull into oak alley plantation.  We get out of the bus and take a walk up to the resteraunts were we have a yummy buffet meal.  Wow lots of food. And some of it is not spicy.  I can't eat it.  My pallet does not go for spicy food.  I would not survive down here if I had to eat spicy food all the time.  I did find enough to not burn my mouth.  After lunch is over we have free time to take in the plantation.  Have a tour of the house.  Just such a beautiful house.  I love the woodworking and all the items that are in the house. Not get a jest of how they use to live.  The most impressive thing about oak alley is the oak trees.  They make two lines down the front of the house and they are about 300 years old and the ones in the back are about 150 years old.   These trees give shade and collect the breeze off the river and cool down the temperature.  When the breeze blows through the house  it cools it down.  The trees in their two rows set off the house beautifully..  I loved this plantation

The second plantation was laurel plantation.  It was a creole plantation.  European not American.   Very. Ugh a slave plantation.  We're the slaves were not treated very well at all.  The house was not as impressive as oak alley, but I thought the building of the house was impressive.  Made out of cypress trees from the swamp.  Beams run across and the uprights were doves into the cross beam.  No nails used at all to build this house.  It was also build off the ground so that if the River flooded it would not be damaged.  This has been restored a couple of times as fire has spread through it.

It was a big come trash from one plantation to the other.  Very interesting history story.  I liked seeing these plantations.

The ride back to the city took  about an hour.  I might have done a little napping on that trip.  Well I know my head was bobbing allot.

Dang tired last night.  Into the room and never left again.  I sat on the bed did a little picture transferring and then I companies out and did not wake up until 9:30 this morning.  Felt good to get a little sleep but we had some things we were deciding to do so soon had to get a move on.

The first was getting some brunch.  Couldn't be breakfast and it was too early for lunch.  So walked around the corner and went to the ruby slipper.  Had to eat someplace the continental breakfast was long done.  Waited about 20 minutes to be seated at the bar.  This place is busy.  Someone gets up and another one is seated right away.  They can do breakfast and lunch and not have to be opened for supper.   They say it is still a money maker.  I did enjoy my brunch it tasted very delish.

So after we finished eating.  Well what do we do now.  Go get a ticket for the trolley and take a ride on it.  Um!!!!!  How about we go this way.  Maybe we can go do that.  Well we finally figured out what to do.  Walking and walking and walking.  The sun was warmer today but yes we still walked.  We walked down by the river.  Then a little through the French quarter.  Then back around and went into the cathedral as we couldn't see it the other day.  Wow!!  Is what I said.  The three story ceiling and the painting on the roof.  The stained glass windows and the large pipe organ in the balcony.  I love looking at old building that have character.  We came out of the church and decided on more walking.  Went over to the French market.  All the crafty stuff there.  And the food.  My gosh so many food places.  I saw a few Dolphins carved out of stone.  I was temped but how the heck would I get it home without breaking it..  I saw hats that I would have liked as well.  They are a straw type hat that the air would blow through.  Would keep my head from getting too much sun and not sweat my head to death.  I thought about both, but then an do I really need them.  I still have a couple of days may be back there.

When we came out of the market.  Ventured back into fren quarter for a few blocks.  Coming out were the carriages are.  Would we like a ride.  Me yes I need to sit down for a little while.  Hm. 18 dollars to go through the French quarter and 36  per person to go to the cemetary.  I want to do both bi put that is just getting a little expensive.  Well I did want to sit down for a little while and get to know a bit of stories about the French quarter.  Just walking around does not get you much.  And I am never sure whether I should be walking into any stores or not.  The chicken is still in me and I do not want to end up someplace I should not be.  But that is just me myself and I talking to each other about what is right and what is still right.  I know sounds funny but they are very little stores and should I walk into them or not. Well anyways we got on the carriage and went around the French quarter on a little tour.  After a period of time trying to get the dang mule to move.  It seemed he just wanted to go back to the stable.  Or not move at all.  They pulled and pushed the mule but he kept backing up.  And trying to go back to the shade he was in.  He knew a good thing when he had it.  They finally got him out and walking around.  Up one road and down another.  We learned what real estate prices were for some of the places.  French quarter is an expensive place to live and the square footage is not much more then a garage size.  The front of the houses were to the inside of the block and the back of the houses were to the street side of the block.  I alway thought it was the other way around.  In way back days the street were used a toilets and garbage places.  Hmmm would you really want to live there.  I guess if you had no other place to live.  These places were called shoot places.  That is because you could shoot a gun straight through from the front to the back door of the house.  No walls in between.. Learn something strange every day.

The carriage ride was over.  We ventured into a couple of stores.  Looked at the masked and tried a few on. I was looking for on with allot of feathers.  I found one for 185 dollars.  Um no and put it back were it was sitting.  It was pretty nice but not for that price.  While I was looking at some other ones Rob went and bought a smaller one for himself.  Much cheaper then the one I was looking at.  I would have wanted it but not for that price.  And you know it was on sale.

After our little shopping expedition we headed back to the hotel room.  My feet are bushed.  So putting them up for a little while made some sense to me.  Rob wanted to take his bag back to the room anyways.

Oh earlier in the day I had also changed over our ticket for the Natchez.  I had an Internet ticket and they wanted a different ticket to get on the boat.  Good I thought of that or we would have had to get out of line tonight and go to the ticket booth and get it changed over.

So after a little rest in the room we headed over to the boat dock and waited to board the Natchez. Music playing from a pipe organ on the roof of the boat.  You could hear this from a long ways off.   It wasn't a long wait that was for sure.  They said they would board at six but were boarding at 5:45.  Up the ramp and onto the boat. Taking a seat in the dining room as we were first sitting.  Got a window seat.  Great could watch from there as we launched.  The dinner was buffet.  Lots of yummie food.  And bread pudding for dessert.  We had finished our meal before the boat even left dock.  So found a place to sit outside and enjoy the rolling water go by.  Not cold sitting out on deck.  Enjoyed the ride down the river.  Jazz music playing on the top deck.  A nice cool breeze blowing across the deck.  The landscape going by and a tour guide telling us about the landscape.  After an hour out we turned around and headed back.  Went down to the highway 90 bridge and turned around once more.  To get a right angle to dock the boat.    That was an enjoyable trip.  Up the river and back down.  The only thing is the whistle is very loud.  A steam whistle at that.  You could hear something like that for miles.

After we got off the boat we boat the picture of us that was taken before we got on.  Not a bad picture of us.  Then walked back to the hotel.  A little different at night then during the day.  But not too bad.

So two day three days down and two more to go.  Tomorrow will be taking a ride through the cemetary and that night ghost stories.  Gonna be one spooky day.  Maybe another ride on the trolley and see a few things in the garden district.  That one is up in the air yet.  Still figuring what else can be done in our next two days.

Our time is soon coming to an end.  So far are having a great time.

Talk to you tomorrow

Day two, New Orleans. Having a great time, but alas my feet are not

Today was a bit of a walking day.  Well not all walking but quite a bit.  My feet and knees are telling me about it right now.  So they are up while I sit here a blab away

Started our day a little latter today.  Yeah kinda slept in a little longer.  It was my own fault.  I started on a book last night and just did not want to put it down..  Finally did though and went to bed.  Dumb, dumb of me.  I know I want to get up in the morning and get on the touring but I just kept reading.

So up and out and around at about 9:30 or 10 o'clock.  Not too late but still. Could have been down stairs and had a continental breakfast.  Instead went with out anything and ate a little later.  Whatever turns our crank I guess.  Walked over to Walgreens and I picked up a couple of jerky sticks and ticket for the trolley. Read the packaging after I was out of the store and it said beef and alligator meat.  Oh oh I am eating alligator again.  Hey it was something to snack on while we waited for the trolley.

The trolley came about 15 minutes later.  We got down about two roads and then came to a dead stop.  The trolley waited and waited for about half to three quarters of and hour while they cleared a police incident on the road in front of us.  Cars could get onto another street but the trolley could only wait until the track was clear.  Not sure what was happening but the place was blocked off with lots of police everywhere.

Finally heading down St Charles street.  We get off a little while later and head over to the ww2 museum.  We're first going to go to the civil war museum but it was closed on Monday.  Well maybe another day.  So in we go to the second museum.  Not much on my cup of tea butRob wanted to see it so we went in.  Told about the invasions by hitler and Stalin and the Japanese.  And how they had planed on taking over the world.  Then we walked on and learned about the war at sea and on land.  How the frontal attacks came about to finally win the war.  The women who worked at home to fill in for the men who were off at war.  Last building we came to was the flight museum.  We could go up four levels on cat walks and see the planes that were hanging from the ceiling from all angles.   Also watched two movies while we were there.  One a four d movie.  Took five years in the making and was narrated by Tom hanks.  The floors shook and some of the noise and lights were great effect.  The second movie we saw took us into a sub and we had to torpedo the heck out of enemy ships.

After the museum we went back to the trolley station and waited and waited and waited.  Were planning on going to the Lafayette cemetery but the trolley had not come in the hour we sat there.  So made a change of plans and walked down to the convention centre and over to mardi grah world.  Got ther half hour before they close.  So took a quick look through.  Wow the colours of some of those floats and the lifelike of some of the people they produce.  And all made out of plater and wire. And styraphom.  Interesting to me anyways.

So today Rob got to see something he wanted to see and I got to see something I wanted to look at.  Fair trade..

After leaving mardi grah world we walked along the front of the convention centre to the river walk outlet.  There we thought we might be able to walk along the Mississippi.  Nope that didn't work so had to stroll through the mall to get back close to canal street.  Rob stopped at one of the stores and bought his souvenirs.  Me I just like looking at all the things for sale.  Once in while might buy something but not very often.  I would have to figure out what would be the purpose of it afterwards.  I just like taking pictures and adding them to scrapbook.  But yeas I do buy souvenirs just not very often..

So heade up canal street and back to our hotel.  It is around 7 and now my feet are up and hoping my knees do not give me too much trouble tomorrow.  Plantation and swamp tour tomorrow.  This is gonna be fun.  We get to ride on an airboat see alligators hopefully not too close.

So no reading tonight.  Have to be up in morning to catch our ride on the tour bus.  Well maybe just a little reading

Sunday, 19 April 2015

Well finished red hatting and am now on a Minnie vacation in New Orleans.

Came Down to Louisiana to enjoy a few days with my red hat sisters .  Red hat adventure is now finished and another adventure begins thus the different blog..  I had a couple of weeks off work so decided to see if my son would like to come along and we would stay for some extra time and enjoy the city of New Orleans.

We brought back our car we rented today to drive out to Houma.  Took a taxi back over to the hotel we are staying at in New Orleans.  Still in same condition we left it in two days ago.  Messy as we said do not bother to make up the room.  So we are now back in the room and stuff sitting all over the place .  The room that has a mirror for a window.  It is a little dark in here.  I don't think if it storms or anything we will not know what it is like outside until we head out.

So now that we have gotten back to our room.  We took our first walk.  I put on my shorts first.  The sun is just a beating out there.  Very warm but not as humid as the day we had the thunderstorm here.

So we picked a direction and headed for it.  Not sure whether we are going in the right direction or not.  Want to get down to the river walk..  See the muddy Mississippi.  Well they call it the mighty Mississippi though.  One of the longer rivers in the USA.  So we walked a little of it.  Ended up going into the aquarium for a cooler walk.  29 dollars each to walk through there.  And you know.  There was no Dolphins.  Aw!!!  Oh well.  Saw allot of other things.  Otters, eels,  lots of different fish, sharks and turtle.  Walked through the bird sanctuary and had parakeets landing on you to get a ride out of the sanctuary.  They were digging in my purse to see if I had anything.  The littlest pick pockets I have seen.  Sorry guys no food for you and had to shoo them away before we walked back through the outer door.

After the aquarium we headed over to the outlet mall along the water.  I know shopping.  Not a touristy thing but it was out of the heat..  I found two places in there that had blingy stuff.  I was good I didn't buy anything bi put I was tempted by a baseball hat with bling on the visor part and and set of big blingy lips on it.  Red to boot.  No didn't buy it.  I have another funvation coming up and can not spend all my money on New Orleans.  I am behaving myself.

After the mall we sat down for something to eat.  When our plates were set down I noticed my sandwich had jalapeños on it and started picking them out.  Rob then said you know I think you have my sandwich and he had mine.  So traded plates.  Aw much better for me.  And Rob is stuffing the jalapeños back into his..  Too hot for my pallet.  After finished our meal we waited and waited am
No waited to get our bill.  I finally went up to the bar and said I would like my bill please.  It still took a while to get it.

Our next stop was a little more of the river walk.  Found the place were we will get on the river boat in three days.  We have reservations for a dinner cruise and listening to jaz music.  Aw one relaxing night.

From there we cut across the park and headed for the cathedral.  Went inside.  I love looking at stained glass windows and the architecture of older building.  Then realized it is Sunday and a service was going on.  We'll have to come back another day and take a look.  What I saw was amazing though.

After leaving the church we walked around behind and found ourselves in the French quarter.  Small one way streets.  Little cubbies of stores.  Voodoo places and three level building with rot iron railings around the balconies.  I like looking at the difference in building from one area to another.  This is architecture I have not seen before except on TV.  And in such closed quarters.  We walked up to bourbon street and then headed along bourbon street back to canal street.  Oh boy you can see allot of the raunchier side in these streets.  There was a man and a women walking towards us.  She ipdid not have a stick of anything on and was painted silver with a little dark paint over the places that need covering.  He was painted silver as well and had a little ball carrier.  Well my prudish eyes have seen a little more then they wanted too.  Yes I am prudish.

Out of the French quarter and back on canal street.  If we want to see more of the French quarter might take a carriage ride through it.  Then a guide can give us a little history on it while we ride.  Or we have a few days may walk around a little again.  I know I have been told beware in there as pick pockets are aplenty.  Well that could happen just about anywhere as well as in the French quarter.

Found the Hard Rock Cafe and looked around it a bit.  Elizabeth I picked up a pin for you that is a little mardi grah theme.  Hope that is what you were looking for.  We then stopped in a convenience store and picked up a few supplies for tonight in the room.  Walked a little further along canal street and magazine street.  Later heading back to hotel to cool off and rest a bit.

Well that was our first full day in New Orleans.  My skin is a turning a little red so got to remember the sunblock or I will turn into a lobster of red.  Well I will match my red hats then won't I.

Tomorrow are going to head out and see about riding the trolley.  Heading over to the wwii museum and then maybe onto a couple of othe museums out that way.  Hope back on the trolley and go to the cemetery a little further out.  I know I know.  I always traipse through cemeteries.  This one I don't think has any relatives in it though.  Just curious as to what the tombs look like.  I do wander around cemeteries though.  Or at least I use to allot.  To find family info.  That has slowed down allot in the past few years though.  I still look once in while but I an not the researcher I use to be.

After those are done may make our way back a little and see if we can find the mardi grah museum.  Might be interesting to take a look at..  Other then that eating and checking out sweet stores and I am always on the lookout for bling.  Rob says there is a sweet store that he wants to look at.  Sugar is always good you know.  Well for some of us anyways.  For others it just adds on the poundage.

That should give us a day of being tired by tomorrow night.  And hot and sticky and ready for a shower.  The next day we have a tour planned.  This will take us to a couple of plantations and then a swamp tour on an airboat.  Rob says I fall in he is not going to go save me.  Well if I fall in there will not be much left of me to save.  The gators might get me.  But there is more meet on my son.  Sorry couldn't resist.

So that's about it for today. Heading out here in a little while to grab something to eat..  Talk to you tomorrow

Time to plink away again for last in put. March 27 2013

Well the past few days in Ontario. Cold for poor little old me.

So now am plinking away on the keys while I wait for our flight to come in so we can board and head out to Calgary.

We had a great visit with family. Did a few arrands and had a bit of fun.

We spent our night in the Shakespeare inn. A little expensive but it was close to who we where going to see.

The flight into Toronto was not that long as I went to sleep through most of it. Was a little bumpy as we where heading over snow storms through the states.

I would really love to go back. I felt pretty good there. Could walk for miles and have not much in the way of pain. I got here and low and behold it starting coming back. Yesterday the fibro started to act up a little and I could feel it running up my back.. But a good night sleep and was ready to go again.

Today being the last day my sister invited me to come along with her for lunch. It was a red hat thing. So got to meet a nice bunch of ladies in their red and purple. My sister lent me a hat so I fit right in. They talked allot about people in Shakespeare and I figures out a few they where talking about. The meal was lovely and to just sit back and listen and talk was great.

Today also it was snowing this morning. Great flying out of a little airport will we get out if the snow gets any worse. Well it has let up but it is darn cold out there. Before we left for the airport decided to take one more walk around Shakespeare and stretch out the limbs before having to sit on a plane for a couple of hours. Well no more out the door and a neighbour that we talk to frequently invited us in. Well that was a short walk. Serena gave us the gossip of the neighbourhood and told us a few stories before we decided to head out for that walk.

Chilly it was getting. But we made it around the neighbourhood. Looked at how some of the places had changed and checked out a antique shops around at the corner. Nothing changed there.

Back to the house into the car and off we head to the airport. Get there in half and hour. Watch some planes come in and then it is time to go through security.

So now I sit and plink away.

it will be no more walking walking walking anymore. Just back to working working working. Lovely. I really want to go back to Mickey Mouse. It was fun there.

So now until our next adventure. Talk again

Sunday, 24 March 2013

Well now in Ontario soaking up the sun. NOT march 24 2013

So was up around 3 30 today to catch flight back to Canada. Sleepy sleepy sleepy. Just finished having a nap and not ready to go out in the cold!!! Brr is it ever a change from Florida.

After waiting for a taxi to take us to airport. It did arrive on time. We headed for the Orlando airport. Same rig a ma roll. First have to check in and get rid of our luggage. Then it is through security. First through one check point to see if have passports and passes to get on plane. Then through another check point to make sure that we are not carrying anything that could blow up a plane. Jacket off, shoes off, electronic devices out of bag, any change or loose item into tub. That then gets sent through scanner. Then you go through a scamp near yourself. Raise your arms and then they take a picture of you and if they do not like what they see they will stop you to get a closer look. Well they didn't like what they saw on me and had to stop me. You know it was just to rind stones that where on my short. Through I go and pick up my stuff on other side. Then we had to get on a shuttle to get to another terminal. Great more waiting. It is getting closer to time plane will be loading.

I was sitting beside a flight attendant who was deadheading it back to Canada. Said she was going through the checkpoint to do the search of her stuff. When she got to the other side to pick back up her belongings one of her bags was not there anymore. Someone had taken it. You have to keep a watch on your stuff at all times. How can you do that and get yourself scanned at the same time.

Well finally on the plane. Take off heading for Ontario. First time in a long time. Fell asleep on the plane. Just put my head down and I was out. I never do that. The plane was full but I didn't notice any of it.

Woke up about half an hour before we where to land. Filled out our forms and got ready to land. Easy flight but was a little bumpy on the way up. We passed through a major snow storm heading north. Did have a good sleep though.

You know this was the easiest place to get through customs in Toronto. Just scan your passports and then scan the form you had to fill out. Pick up your luggage and then past last customs person where you hand in your form. The out the door to where you wait for your ride.

Well he was a little late in getting there. We can blame it on our niece. Just because it is fun to blame it on her. Sorry Katie couldn't resist. It is all your fault. Yeah I know it wasn't anyone's fault. Just have to blame someone. We stood outside for a few minutes and then they showed up. Luggage in back and we are on our way for another hour or so ride. At least traffic is not bad that time of morning.

At least I can say the drivers around here are not as much in being maniacs they are in Florida. But hey this was early on a Sunday morning so I could be wrong.

We dropped off our luggage at the motel we are staying at and then headed over to the family home to sit and chat for a little while. Outside is a bit nippy after being in such hot humid weather for a couple of weeks. I am not exactly dressed for this. I guess what it is is what it is. At least the vest I have is warm.

So now just sitting in room waiting for hubby to get a little rest. It seems instead of going to bed last night he stayed up all night watching the telly. I guess he didn't want to miss am alarm of 3 o clock.

That's about it for our fun filled day today. Just have thermostat turned up in the room warming up right now and typing away at nonsense. Tonight maybe will get some good grub. I am hoping for a pizza but that has yet to be decided.

Well talk again tomorrow. Just have a couple more days before have to head back to reality. I am not sure whether I really want to go back to that. Having a nice relaxing time right now. So you will hear form me again tomorrow. It will probably be a cold boring day. Oh boy such fun.

Today was a bust march 23 2013

Well with thunderstorms ragging out the every so often. We did not venture far from the place. Took a walk one way and then took a walk the other way. Checked out all the gift shops and looked at all the junk we could buy. Well didn't buy anything. Rob sorry not getting anything brought back for you.

I would like to thank airmiles for the many things we got to do with my points. We got a five day pass to Disney, a two day pass to universal studios, a one day pass sea world, and a one day pass to Busch gardens. Also a five day stay at best western and I still have another gift card from best western to be able to stay another night somewhere else. Some time. Also like to thank blair for the time share he let us use for a week. So all in all I just had to pay for the flight down here and then food and any taxi to get around when we changed hotels. Oh I also had to pay for the dolphin experience as well but that is the price I have to pay to do something I love doing.

So we had a great trip and had a wonderful time. The weather was great and did allot of walking. Yeah I mean allot of walking. Seen allot of different things got a few blisters but can sayi didn't burn. That is one good thing. As last time I was in sunny weather i burnt to a crisp. Too bad the rain had to come in on the last couple of days, which we also almost got caught in one day. Well beside getting caught by security one day and worrying the rest of the time if they would catch us again. So just a couple of hiccups but other then that just the worry about catching flight tomorrow.

So a big thank you for the rest that I needed. Now it will be back to the grind. Yuk I want to stay here where it is warm, but I guess that is not in the cards. So see you all on the flip side.

Well made it through with out security catching us. March 22 2013

Today turned out to be a glorious day. Well at least to start with.

This morning up and out the door by 9 o clock. Not too far to go today. Went and visited animal kingdom.

So started out with our usual walking walking and more walking. Got to where we cross the road. So should we go this way or should we walk that way and see if security sees us. Well we took the long way . It isn't much further and I think it is a better route anyways. You don't get as much traffic this way as the way we where walking the first couple of times.

Well we got up to the front entrance without any one coming to stop us. Yes did it again. So now just through the gate and we are in the park. No shuttle to take this time. Just straight walking.

We headed left. Went into camp Minnie and Mickey first. Saw all the characters posing for their pictures with people. An I didn't go to get my picture taken again. I saw Mickey the other day and had my picture taken with him.

After we came out of there we went into Africa. Got on a truck heading back into the tundra to show us some of the animals around there. We saw elephant, rhinos, lions, giraff and some different types of elks. After we got out of the truck we walked through an exhibit of more animals. Here we came upon a few monkeys and gorillas. After coming out of that trail we got on a train that took us deep into Africa. There we saw a few lizards and some very colourful birds. Allot of parrots and then there was a petting zoo with some goats and donkeys in it. Back on the train to get out of there. No way to walk out of there. Had to take the train.

The next stop was Asia. Here was another walking tour to see some wildlife. There was tigers and some monkeys playing around. This was also where one of the rides was. Water rafting. Looked like fun but had cameras and such that we didn't want to get wet. So didn't go on. Oh well could have maybe got to cool off a little with some water.

After Asia we came to dinoland. Not too much there to look at. Seemed to be all an arcade type place with a few rides. Yeah a couple of roller coaster to boot. Started to stear away from there. Arcades and roller coaster still are not my thing. Lunch was in order then. Found a place to have a burger. Sloppy was what it was. Made a big mess at least not on me.

Now out of Dino land and came to a show being put on. It is a bugs life. 3 d so you could see these characters like you could touch them. A few special effect to go along with the show and it felt like you we're sound under the ground with these bugs. Bugs yuk!!!

As we came out of that show the parade was suppose to start in a few minutes. So staked ourselves out a place to watch it. As we where sitting there a couple of kangaroos jumped out behind and enclosure where we where sitting. Interesting to see them.

The parade starts. You have lots of acrobats, Donald, goofy, Minnie , Pluto and Mickey riding on floats. Performers dancing along to the music and coming over and getting high fives from the kids around there.

Okay parade over so take a little trek up to the tree of life. Saw all the carvings on it. Very pretty to see. As we came back down from there the parade had made it back to where we came out. Watched it a second time.

Well that is it for the day. Started to head for the gate. That is when the problem started. Thunder rolling but no lightning. Then the heavens opened up. It just a lured. Water water everywhere. It jus came down. Now what do we do. Are we walking back or finding a taxi. We wait it out for about half and hour. Just a pouring. Are we going to get anywhere or are we stuck here for awhile. Then it starts to let up. Yeah! So we start walking towards the gate. Everyone else is leaving as well. Great there will be allot of traffic going out now.

Well half way across the parking lot and the sun goes away again and it starts it raining again. Not as bad bi put it is raining. So we wait under and overpass and hope that it lets up enough to get on our way. Especially before any security comes a callin. Don't need to run into security again. Well after about ten minutes the rain lets up and it starts getting humid. So we make the rest of the trek back to the resort.

Well that is our adventure here. No more walking. My legs I don't think will take much more of that. I came feel them cramping at night. And my knees and hips are telling me lots of stories here. At least not as bad as what they would have at home but they are telling me.

So tomorrow is a day to get ready to travel again. Make sure all is packed up and nothing is left behind. We where thinking of taking another trip over to sea world but if the thunderstorms are going to threaten again we will just stay close to our room and maybe check out the junk oh I mean souvenir stores around here. I keep looking at those outback hats they have. I would like to get one but where would I wear it afterwards. I do like those hats though. Hmmm!!! Bout enough junk already.

So that is our trip. Thanks for listening. I know not much of a writer but you get the jest of what happened. Two days from now will be in the cold weather of Ontario for a couple of days. It is still snowing there. Yuk!!! Glad it is only for a couple. I don't like the idea of freezing me butt off. Which is what I think is going to happen since I did not bring any warm clothes to go out in. Layer coming up. Brrrr!!! Then home wet home.

I DON'T WANT TO GO HOME. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ME. PLEASE. IT MEANS WORK AND RAIN AND ME WITH SORENESS AGAIN. I do miss some people and animals at home and my own wittle bed though so have to get home to them.

Well see you all on the flip side. Brrr! I am feeling the cold already.

Thursday, 21 March 2013

Hey I saw Mickey Mouse today. March 21 2013

Today we went to Disney Hollywood studios.

After a day of rest and hoping that the rain and thunderstorms where behind us. We ventured out again today.

Well the thunderstorms not around today. The weather is a little cooler again. I was dressed for warmer weather but will get over it as the sun starts coming up a little more.

So we set off on our walking walking walking. Great another day of a couple mile walk to the park and then across a couple of busy roads and then through the parking lot together over to the shuttle at animal kingdom to get to Hollywood studios. Today a little problem though. We got caught going across the busy part of the parking lot. A car pulled up and asked us to get in. Security. Oh oh now we is in trouble. Thought we would be taken back out of the park, but low and behold they gave us a ride over to the gate and said please do not do it again. Whew!!! That was a close one. Now when we come back do we get a taxi or do we try walking out again and hope for the best. Figure it out when the time comes I guess. But at least we didn't have to walk across the parking lot.

So now over to the shuttle buss and we where on our way to Hollywood studios. A very short drive. Well we are getting closer to home each time. Well not really home but the resort we are staying in.

Hollywood studios here we come. Through the bag check and then through the gate. Okay where do we go first. I am not sure let me get organized and figure out where things are. Looking at the map and then he just starts walking. I want to see this and I would like to see that. Well where are they. I am not sure give me a minute. Well if I do that we will not see anything and you did not get a schedule of when shows are . Now we are going to miss stuff and not see it all.

So now we start walking. Okay where are we. There is this you want to see that. There is that up ahead do you want to see that. Oh oh I can see the signs that things may not be as good today.

We are finally at the back lot tour. So on we go. Not much of a wait. It is still early in the morning. First section we come to is a special effects of the movie pearl harbour. There is fire, torpedoes, and bullets going off. Lots of water being splashed around. Noisy it is. Then we walk through a building that had all the props for old movies. And then onto a tram. The tram took us into the back lot where we saw a few bigger items from movies. I saw herbie the love bug sitting there along with items from Star Wars and pearl harbour. Disney airplane was sitting back there. The one he used to scout out property in Florida for his new theme park. We then traveled into a set where we hat the tram shaking on a wooden bridge and fire going off and then a huge plummet of water coming down that came dang close to getting us wet. Around we went to where we saw the set for the car show we will go to see later.

After we are off the tram we start our walking again. Come across the animation area and hear the story of Walt Disney and how he made his empire. How he had lost it a couple of times and gotten it back even better. Animation and drawing. Very interesting. To me. I like to draw but don't think would be good enough to do stuff like that.

Walking a little further we came to where the characters are having pictures. I stood in line to have my picture taken with Mickey Mouse. Hubby figured I was just being silly. Well I did vp come to see him so I stood in line.

After coming out of that building we walked a little more and found out we where back at the front of the park again. Okay what shows you want to see. There is Indana Jones over there lets go. It starts I half an hour. Will they let us in. Lets go see. Well on we walked and got ourselves a good seat. The show showed three different sequences form the first movie. Indy getting himself rolled over by a ball after getting a statue off a stand. Being chased by the Egyptians. And saving the lady from the airplane after fight off a bunch of bad guys. A few special effects thrown in to make it more real. They had a few people from the audience take part as well.

When that show was over we headed back to the back lot toutpr we again as the car stunt show did not start for another hour and half. Watched the peal harbour thing again and went on the back lot tour. Saw a couple of things did not see the firs time. I guessing was looking the wrong way last time.

Still a little early for stunt show so went and had a bite to eat across form the back lot tour. Just a sandwich and fries. Hit the spot. But went back to get a cupcake of Mickey that was from st paddys day. Oh it tasted like mint. Was it ever good.

We then headed over to the stunt cars show. People people people there. The stands were full. It was a good show of cars jumping and spinning and lot of special effects to go along with it. They had a young girl come up to remote control a car. She was not sure if she was doing right and when the car turned around there was someone actually driving the car from the outside. Funny. More car stunts and motorcycle stunts. Cars on two wheel and men falling off of buildings after being shot.

Those two shows where worth going to see just for the special effects.

Okay it is now 5 and it is time to start heading back. Up to the front we go. What is this place we have not seen it before. Yes we have just from that angle over there. Oh! I figured we had not seen the whole thing. Yes I think we have.

Well so get back on the shuttle and over to animal kingdom. Now do we dare walk or should we take a cab. Well let try the walk. We will walk this way though so it looks like we are walking to a car. Off we go. Down through the parking lot over to where the buses go out. Way over against the edge were we are not lose to cars crossing. Hmm this is an easier route. Not as much traffic. A little longer to walk but no as bad to walk and no one stopped us. Out of the park and across only lone busy route which at that time of night not too busy. Yeah we did it again.

Walk back to the main road we live on for now. Stooped at the grocery store and pick up a couple of provisions then on our way back to the resort.

One beautiful day. Sometimes a little chilly for me but sunshine all day.

Tomorrow. Will be at our last stop. Animal kingdom to see the animals again. My favourite part. Hopefully another sunny day to get through. They keep threatening with thunderstorms.. Come on hold off. Until we are done here. Only a couple of days left. Come on I like it here. I am not in as much pain and all the walking I can do without being sore. Why can't I have that in my home province. I would be so much happier if I didn't hurt so much.

Then not sure whether we will make it over to sea world again. I would like to see the dolphins again but we fly out the next day first thing yeah I mean really first thing in the morning. So going over to see the dolphins again might make it too late getting back here to get some sleep before our flight. Please please I would really like to go though. Can I can I huh huh? Well that is still up in the air.

So far have had a great trip. Would love to keep it going but you know reality does have to step in sooner or later. Well will talk again tomorrow. Oh here is my new best friend. Mickey and me.

Rest day today. Well sorta. March 20 2013

Sleep in. Yes that sounded good. Well that was a sorta too.

Woke up this morning to rain just a pourin on the roof. They where calling for thunderstorms today so where not going far from resort.

After we had breakfast decided to head out for a walk and hope that the rain does not come back while we are out. Well!!! Instead of pouring rain on us the cloud dissipated and we had sun. Oh boy we didn't put on any sun block. Well we kept walking anyways. Headed down 192 st about a mile or so. Checked out a few stores along the route and looked at restaurants that might be good to eat at tonight. The sun is just beating down on us. Great.

Get back to the room and have a little sit down. The clouds come through again so decide that we will go over to the pool and do a little soaking. Are there for about an hour. The hot tub just feels so good. Then decide to go back into pool. Burr what happened to the warm water. One more dunk in hot tub and then back to the room we go.

It seems it is still cloudy out so now let's head out to another walk. Take the opposite direction. Check out a few stores and keep walking. About the farthest away from the room and the sun comes out again. Just don't learn. No sunblock again. We are looking for trouble and gonna get burnt. Stop at a fruit stand and pick up some fruit to eat as breaky for the next few days. I think I bought a little more then I need but it will get finished before I leave. Do love my fruit.

So now to make the trek back past the lights where our resort is and make our way a little further and go to where we decided to eat.

The black angus restaurant. Will be a little expensive but it is soooo good, had some stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. They were just chalked full of crab meat. Oh soo good. I am use to the little ones that they serve in Canada with the garlic sauce. But these where huge with lots inside. Then came the salads and soup. More food. Just way too much and we have not even got to the main course yet. I had rack of lamb. Soo much food with a baked potato and hubbies plate was chalked full of prime rib. Yeah again soooo much food and was it just so delish. You know I ate it all and for some reason did not feel stuffed.

So now early for a change back to,our room. Have to get my feet up. The pain killers are not doing the trick they where doing when we started this trip. When we first started I felt a little pain that I could bare but now I feel a whole lot more. Maybe it was just too much walking in the heat the past few days. Hopefully it won't get to much more worse before we head to our next destination. I do not want to be in pain riding on and airplane. Got a few more days of heat here before that happens though so should hopefully subside.

Tomorrow we are heading over to Disney Hollywood studios. More walking. Yeah I know. From what I saw on Internet about this place there is a few places we can go into and sit a spell while we look at exhibits. Then the next day will be at animal kingdom.. That seems like it will easy as well with a few sit down places. I am hoping to go back over to sea world again.. I want to see dolphins again before we leave. Hubby would like to go to downtown Disney but I think is is just a bunch of shopping places. But we will try to get there.

So will talk again tomorrow after our day at Disney Hollywood studios. Maybe will see a few stars over there. On the big screen that is. Or maybe will see. Mickey Mouse. Have not seen him yet. Have seen Donald, woody, Mary poppins, woody woodpecker and woody the doll from toy story. So will keep my eyes peeled and maybe I will get to see him yet. Lets keep my fingers crossed for that. I should see if I can see chip and dale as well. I saw them as a teenie bopper and I bet they have not aged a bit where as I have. Sucks.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Epcot centre today. March 19 2012

Well another day over near Disney area.

Up a little later today. Didn't think we would have to get up too early as we are not catching any shuttle that has to leave on time. Just catching one that runs every 20 minutes.

So now out the door we go. The weather is threatening to rain. Well maybe. But the temperature is to go up to 29 today. This is going to be one hot day. At least after tomorrow it will cool off a little. Well I will be back into my pants then. Tomorrow it is saying that there might be thunderstorms. So tomorrow is going to be a laze around day and maybe sit by the pool, but I have to get a bit of laundry done as well. Working while I am on holiday. Sucks!!!

Doing our walking walking walking. Over to animal kingdom we go. Find the right shuttle to Epcot and then we are on our way. Walking over there is starting to feel longer and longer every time we do it. Something we have to do though or start paying for a taxi to get us there and probably have to pay a fortune for that. I am cheap when it comes to some things.

Driving Into Epcot took no time at all. A little closer then going to Disney. The walk up to the gate was not too long either. Just off to the right from the bus depot. So easy to find.

Bags checked at the gate again. One of the ladies that was checking bags said they ate looking for food. They don't like food brought in. I guess they like to have you purchase food there. They get you coming and going.

Through the gate and ticket has been swiped. They took out finger print as well. I guess no one else can use my ticket now

The first place we come to is future land. And a big globe right in front of us. We walk up the ramp and are on our first ride. Very slow sissy ride. Just my style. We ride up and up and learn about inventions through the years. Yeah I know a sissy ride. I'll take it. After we are off that are directed through to a gift shop . Out of the gift shop and am now turned around. I am looking at the map but is not making any sense. Should we be over there or are we suppose to be walking this way. Lost already and we just got there.

Well I wanted to go on soaring. That is a ride where it feels like you are flying in a hang glider. Still turned around and head into the wrong building. End up on the ride with finding nemo. Yeah yeah another sissy ride. When we came to the end of that ride it looked like the cartoon characters are in a real aquarium. How did they make that look so real. You know what as we got off the ride it was real. This was a building that was one big aquarium. Could see sharks and sting rays and lots of fish and coral. So wandered around and looked at all the fish and such.

When we came out of the building and the weather was feeling a little more warmer. Starting to get pretty darn hot and sun has come out from behind the clouds that had formed this morning. Oh boy it is going to be a scorcher today.

All the gardens where in beautiful bloom. It was set up for a show on home and garden. Flowers flowers everywhere. And such vibrant colours. All the shrubbes and trees were cut up to look like Disney characters. Interesting indeed.

We headed ourselves over to the next building and there we found soaring. The wait was 90 minutes long. You sure you want to wait. Well you want to go on and it is cool here we will wait. Well the wait was not as long as we thought. Only took 45 minutes to get up to where we went on. So they send us through a a gate and there is another line. Great more waiting. Well that part was not too long. Got put into designated areas to where we where going to sit. Then a little blurb about what was going to happen. Then we went into the seating area. All hats and loose items put under the seat. A seat belt put on. The top came down and little lights went off. We felt like we where being lifted off the ground. Then the picture turned. It was all around us. The breeze was blowing in our face as the picture turned left we turned with it. We flew over the lions gate bridge, through Yosemite park, and over a golf course. Over and aircraft carrier and then over Disney before landing. I really felt like you where flying. I loved the ride. For a sissy.

Okay got on the ride I wanted to see. Now we start walking allot. Made our way around the rest of the park. Stopped to watch the movies in Canada exhibit, USA exhibit and the French exhibit. Looked through the gift shops. I found a nice t shirt to buy. So now something different to wear.

Had lunch at a pulled pork kiosk. The weather was getting hotter. Whew!!! I didn't feel much like doing any more walking. Checked out the rest of the countries, made our way back to tomorrow land and decided it was time to head back to hotel.

Oh do we go this way or do we go that. Finally after hitting a couple of dead ends and not getting out, turning around and backtracking we made it back to the entrance. Over to the bus station and heading back to animal kingdom. This is where we start walking again. Have to get back to our resort area. Something to eat and then back to our room.

Hot tub tonight. Walking and the sun made it a good night for a good soaking. Tomorrow will take it easy and then next day will be off to Disney Hollywood studios. May not be much there but have tickets to get into Disney five times so let's use them up here.

Talk again tomorrow. Thunderstorms are said to be on the way. So will not be venturing too far away. Maybe a relax by the pool for awhile.. Need a bit rest before I start to seaze up too bad. I am hurtin now a little more then I want to.

Dismay park today, march 18 2013

Hi all from the land of beautiful sunshine. Well today was a little cloudy and out of those clouds came a little rain.

So anyways today we found our way to get to the parks. No it was not a shuttle but walking walking walking. Well not too much.

Up this morning around 7:30. Had a little snack out of the groceries we bought yesterday. Didn't need too much just a little something to get us through the morning.

We then started our trek. First we went down to the lobby to see what the villa had for continental breakfast.. No not much. Just a bit of bread and muffins and coffee, which we don't drink anyways.

So now all sun blocked up for a few hours we head out to take a bit of a walk. Hoping not to get caught on Disney property walking where we are not suppose to walk.well 20 minutes later we are at the parking lot for animal kingdom. Walked along a road with no sidewalk on. Then across a bit of a field over to another road without sidewalks. Then through the animal kingdom gate and across a parking lot. BIG parking lot. Well no one stopped us so that is good. For walking and not driving in. We get to the area where pickup is done. You know you Take your life in your own hands walking these streets. Drivers don't give a dang about pedestrians here. You can cross a busy road at a cross walk and cars just keep coming and pull out ahead of you. You walk along the side of the road and they are just a zoomin by. You want to try to cross somewhere and no one stops for you. So have to watch every where you are walking. Lovely.

So no are in the parking lot and find a tram that will take you over to the gate. Hope on and take a little ride. Aw!!! Not walking. Off the tram we get and make our way to the bus shuttle that will go to the different parks. As soon as we find the right bus we are on our way. Yes Disney park here we come.

The ride took about 15 minutes. Out of this park along the highway and into Disney area. Now. Off the bus and more walking. Well not too much as yet. We have to get on a mono rail or a steamboat to get to the entrance. So we take the steam boat as the line up is not as long. Across the lake we go. Off on the other side and now the walking begins again.

Bag check first. I made a suggestion to see if they would like seeing a pair of dirty undies in there. Na wouldn't do it. Then fast tracked to a ticket person as we had tickets to get in. Love the air miles. Got us into Disney as well.

So now into the park and off we go to the train. Old steam train that goes around the outside of the park and makes two other stops. So we ride it around all the way just to check out. Do not see much but a few statues of deer and native villages. We got off at frontier land. And started our walking.

I went on some rides. Well not big impressive rides. Pirates of the Caribbean , the paddle boat, went into the bear jamboree and the jungle cruise. You see I can go on rides and not just walk. Went over to hucks island and wandered it. Hubby took me into a cave. I got lost in there since I could not see. Hey I am over here just come this way. Where the hell are you I can't see you. Just go straight of bang I walked into a wall. Great. That was fun. Glad I was out of there.

Back off that island and now just wandering around. Take a trip on the train a couple more times during the day. Just to get a sit down for a minute or two. See the parade go down Main Street. Then sit in front of Cinderella castle and wait for a show they are putting on there. Mickey, Minnie, goofy and Donald. Making dreams come true. So now starting to get later so decide it is time to head out.

Check out the stores on the way up. They have these collector pins. You buy a lanerd and put these pins on. Then you trade and buy more pins to put on this lanerd. Seemed kinda interesting. You can also if you are a kid get a autograph book to get signed by all the characters in the park. Something to keep the kids interested.

Anyways the long trek back to animal kingdom. First we take the monorail back to the parking lot. From there onto a shuttle bus to take us back to animal kingdom. Ten minutes later back there. From there have to take a tram back to part of parking lot that we can get off and walk across parking lot. Oh oh there is security over there. Should we walk or not. As we got closer one of them drove up by us. The jig is up. Are we suppose to walk here or not. He just rolled down his window and said be carful walking. Ew!!! Now back through the field onto one road and then crossing the busy road and then onto another road. 20 minutes later back at area we are suppose to be at.

Supper at Denny's and then back to room were I can catch dancing with the stars. Yeah am addicted to that.

Well hip is sore. Feet are dirty but finally I am sitting down and relaxing for the night.

Tomorrow another trip over to animal kingdom and then catch a shuttle to Epcot centre. Oh my poor feet and knees and hips. I am starting to feel them now. Will I make it through the rest of the week doing this walking thing. Well time will tell or I will be bunged up for sure.

Talk again tomorrow. After the trip to Epcot. Hopefully I can keep hubby away from the idea of looking at a time share. It seems that is what is wanted here. But if I can get out of doing it and just enjoying without having any sales person trying to sell us a time share. I know you can have a free prize for looking but we do not have a car to get to any of those places. That would just be more walking walking walking. And I do not think I need too much more walking then what I am already doing.

So enough for tonight. Tell you of my adventures tomorrow.

Sunday, 17 March 2013

Oh one warm day today. March 17 2013

Well today was moving day. Got to sleep in. What a wonderful idea.

Well didn't sleep in to much longer then usual. After we got up we had missed the continental breakfast down stairs. Oh we'll have to go one last time to the restaurant we had been going to all week. No hardship there. Only missed one night there. It was too busy one night because they had all you can eat fish. So had to find something else to eat.

So after done our breaky went back up stairs and packed up our stuff. Putting clothes back into a bag in a hurry. Well I didn't have too much to have to put back in. Just grab swim suit , which is still a little damp after being in with dolphins. Will have to pull it out when we get to other place. Then my toiletries are to be packed up. Just have to figure out how to get my warm vest in there. It was on me when we came here. Haven't had to wear it since. Good show there.

So now time to bug out of this place. Drag our luggage down and then settle up the bill. Didn't cost me a dang thing to stay here. I have a few gift certificates to pay for the place from air miles. Just love air miles will explain in a few minutes here. When bill is settled we wait out side for taxi. Yeah on the road again.

We are now heading over to the Kissimmee area. The driver is not sure where he is going so has to make some calls. Finally into the drive and are dropped off. Another 30 dollars on taxi ride. Well is better then having to try to drive around here if you don't know the area.

The place is small on the outside and they charge for just about everything. Great!!! Internet wi fi is 30 dollars for the week. If you want to join in any activities going on around the place there is a fee. They also charge if you want to take the tour of their time share. Then you get the money back after plus a prize for looking at it. Charge, charge, charge. This is not going to be so cheap me thinks.

Finally into room. Up three flights of stairs carrying our luggage. Pooped already. Open the door and the place is a big apartment. Two bedrooms both have a bathroom. One a jacuzzi tub for two. Maybe taking advantage of that later on today. Just to get rid of the sweat from walking today. Will sooth those achy muscles I hope. Oh back to the suite. There is a full kitchen and living room area. Even a washer and dryer to get rid of hot sweaty clothes if need be.

So now after checking out the place we head out on a little stoll. Hopefully to find a way to get from point a to point b. being here to animal kingdom. From there we can catch a shuttle and make it anywhere on Disney property we want to. So now walking. Yeah that's right walking walking walking again over and over again. I sure am getting my exercise here. We walked down one road which took us about 25 minutes. We then came to a light and said okay right or left. We went left first but came to the gate for the animal kingdom lodge. That was just a parking lot and would have had to travel further and the find a shuttle there. So now turned around and went the other way. Walked a little ways and came to e parking lot for animal kingdom. So now can get there tomorrow and see how we can get to the other places the next day.

So now we have to make the long trek back. We found a short cut through a few trees which will make it a little easier on the walk tomorrow.

Back near where we are staying we checked out a couple of other resorts. They have shuttle service but would only be in issue for paying guest. We could pay for their shuttle but then would be paying about the same amount fora taxi. Lets see now. Walking for 20 minutes. Taking a taxi or paying same price for a shuttle from another hotel. If hubby has anything to say about it we will probably be walking. But right now the heat has got to him and he is sleeping soundly. Maybe a taxi home if we have to.

We stopped and picked up a few groceries so we could have some snacks around. Stopped at a couple of booths selling tickets to see if there was any kind of shuttle service from this area. Hmm not can do. I guess still walking.

Oh also found a Harley dealer right down the road. But they didn't have much in the way of the bright coloured t shirts I like. Asked about renting a Harley for a day. Would cost about 75 dollars. Are still thinking on that as well.

So tomorrow what is in line. Animal kingdom. I guess. Will walk over there and check out more animals and watch the rides and maybe take in a few shows. Walking walking walking. over and over. feet are still taking it for now. but the robax and tylenol are at my side. Tonight just a chillen. I mean a chillen the air conditioner is turned up a little far for me. Time for a blanket.

Oh I was going to say why I just love the air miles. You see I used them all up to get tickets to Busch gardens, sea world, universal and Disney five day pass. Also finished off my air miles by getting gift certificates to best western. Then with the time share being paid for by a friend we are not paying much for this trip. The only thing so far that cost anything was food and the trip to discovery cove. Plus a few novelties I have picked up so far. No have not bought anything dolphin yet. Oh I lied I did buy a dolphin necklace and earrings. Couldn't go without buying something dolphin. Suitcase will be full on way home and we are only part way through our vacation. I still am in line to buy some more junk. Oh I mean souvenirs. Got to get it home though. I saw a couple of beautiful statues of dolphins but how would I get home without breaking.

So now walking walking walking tomorrow. Talk again tomorrow. Still enjoying my time here. Do not want to come home to the rain.
